I Page 8 Second Day - Tuesday, September 26, 2000 The meeting was opened by President Dózsa at 8:38 A.M. and asked the Rev. Barnabas Roczey to give the morn­ing devotion. Roll Call was made. All 41 delegates and 16 officers and directors are present. A total of 57. The following advisors were asked to present their re­ports: • Medical Advisor Dr. Katalin Korossy. • Mr. Steve Brunnetti, LIMRA Consultant. He stated, as he is a new advisor, he does not have a written report. LIMRA’s mission is to help the Federation to grow. He feels that after yesterday’s organizational change we are in a good position to grow. • Actuary John Ballard. His report gave detailed infor­mation about the financials of the Federation, about business plan (challenges and accomplishments) and the status of our dividends. • Financial Advisor A1 Eglow. In his report he presented charts to compare our current financial conditions to the time of the last Convention 4 years ago. • Legal Advisor Puskas. In his report the Legal Advisor paid tribute to his late father William B. Puskas, Former Treasurer of the Federation. He reminded the delegates of the Roman god Janus, who wore two faces like the Federation, with one fulfilling the business responsi­bilities and with the other serving as a fraternal benefit society. It was moved, duly seconded and unanimously carried that the reports of the advisors be referred to the appropri­ate committees. Carried. • V.P. Morey was called to give the report of the Board of Directors. It was moved and seconded to accept the re­port. Carried. • Rev. Imre A. Bertalan, Executive Director and Mr. Michael Walker, Administrator of the Bethlen Home were called to give their reports. Rev. Bertalan thanked personally all those Board members who had also worked on the Board of the Bethlen Home, namely Presi­dent Dózsa, Directors Pauli, Jr., Roczey, Csornán, Áros, Jalso, Morey, Szucs, and Torok. He also thanked Legal Advisor Puskas, Jr., former Bethlen Home Director Hunyady and Rev. Kalman Administrator Walker expressed appreciation, as this is the first time that he is addressing the Convention. The changes that were voted yesterday are similar to the changes implemented one year ago at the Bethlen Home. President Dózsa asked Reverend Torok to conclude today’s meeting with prayer. The meeting adjourned at 4:30 P.M. TESTVÉRISÉG Third Day - Wednesday, September 27, 2000 The meeting was called to order by President Dózsa at 8:35 A.M. The devotion was conducted by Rev. Szabolcs Kalman. The roll call was made. All present except Delegate John Bujdoso was excused and one delegate who was not in the room yet. A total of 55 voting members were present. The President gave the floor to Director Aros, who thanked Delegate Ilona Szabó for arranging the wonderful trip to Detroit yesterday evening. He also announced that starting at 6:00 P.M. today hospitality rooms will be hosted by Bethlen Home, the eastern districts and the Ohio/Penn- sylvania districts. He also announced that Friday morning at 7:30 A.M. continental breakfast will be offered for those who want to attend the first Board of Directors meeting con­sisting of both the present/old and newly elected Board mem­bers. Then, Director Aros, Chairman of the Strategic Plan­ning Committee, asked the Convention to open the new By- Laws on Article III, Section 27, qualifications of a member of the Board of Directors. He enumerated and emphasized the importance of each qualification. He asked the prospec­tive candidates to measure up to these. He also emphasized that 6 of the new Board members will also serve as direc­tors on the Board of the Bethlen Home which will require additional time and commitment. Director Hamos announced that the US House of Rep­resentatives just approved the resolution “Serbia Democra­tization Act of 2000,” which supports the human rights for the Hungarian population in Voivodina/Vajdasag. President Dózsa called on V.P. Hunyady to report on the Hungarian Reformed Youth Camp. She reported that the camp took place at the Laurelville Mennonite Church Camp grounds. V.P. Hunyady read the minutes of the Executive and Organization Committee, September 26-27,2000 meetings. The committee moved the following recommendations: 1. The Convention accept and acknowledge the re­port of the Legal Counselor with thanks for his coun­sel during the past four years. Seconded by V.P. Morey. Unanimously approved. 2. The Convention accept the Executive Director’s and Administrator’s reports with thanks, and that Rev. Bertalan and Mr. Walker be commended for a job well done since taking on the leadership of the Bethlen Home. Second by Director Pauli, Jr. Unani­mously carried. 3. The next Board of Directors determine the most appropriate way to support the building of the Chapel at the Bethlen Home and that a donation or a mortgage up to a maximum amount of $300,000 be authorized toward this project. Seconded by Del­egate Vida. Unanimously carried.
