FRATERNITY Page 7 Home Office News Celebrating March 15th at the Kossuth House The Home Office held its traditional wreath-laying ceremony on March 15th at the Kossuth House in order to commemorate the 1848-49 Revolution. The National Officers and representatives of other Hungarian-American organizations placed several beautiful wreaths under the bronze plaque of Louis Kossuth while over thirty guests looked on. Following a short reception, a special delegation left for the U.S. Capitol, where they placed another wreath under the bust of Kossuth located in the rotunda. Spring Board Meeting held at the Home Office Washington, D.C. March 20-24, 2000 During the week of March 20th, the Home Office hosted the annual Spring Board meeting for the members of the Board of Directors and Advisors. After the many days of reports, presentations and meetings, a banquet was held to reward the participants, including the Home Office staff and local HRFA supporters. Hungarian Ambassador to the U.S. Géza Jeszenszky and his wife Edit also took part in the dinner and reception as guests of the HRFA. L. to r..: Suzanne S. Virgulák, HRFA Treasurer, Anthony C. The Hóvirág Choir Visits the Home Office On Tuesday April 4lh, the award winning, 10 member Hóvirág Énekkar from Veszprém, Hungary held a short introductory concert for the Home Office staff as a preview of their commencing two-week U.S. tour. The choir sampled their repertoire of several hundred choir works from the fifteenth to the twentieth century, which it has assembled over its nearly twenty-years of activity. Synopsis of Resolutions Adopted at the Spring Board Meeting: President George Dózsa opened the Spring Meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, March 20,2000, at 8:35 a.m. He welcomed the Board members, Advisors and Bishop Géza Erdélyi from Slovakia, who was visit­ing Washington, D.C. with the Concordia Choir from Komarom. Bishop Erdélyi held the devotional services and de­parted shortly thereafter. Secretary Endre Csornán called the roll. A quorum was present. Reports of the Legal Advisor William B. Puskas, Jr., Esq.; the Financial Advisors Koppelman, Eglow, Francis & Wiener; the Medical Director Dr. Katalin S. Korossy; the Executive Director of the Bethlen Home Rev. Imre A. Bertalan; the Administrator of the Bethlen Home Mr. Michael Walker; and the Actuary Mr. John Ballard were read. Resolutions passed: • That staff of the Home Office be commended for a job well done. • That the Home Office Management Committee, along with the LIMRA representative, review the Home Office structure and evaluate the distribu­tion of workloads and staffing needs, taking into account the President’s recommendation for a fra­ternal coordinator. • That the report of the President be accepted with thanks. The President has fulfilled his duties and responsibilities in accordance with Article IV, Para­graph 50 of the 1996 Edition of the HRFA By- Laws, for the yearl999, and that President Dózsa be released from his responsibilities for the full year 1999 and be complimented for his dedicated ser­vices to the HRFA.
