FRATERNITY Page 3 President’s Corner History Repeats Itself! On the threshold of the new century, the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America will start its second 100 years of history. It is looking to the 21s' century with new expectations, hope and excitement. As you know, the last Convention of the 20th century put forth a new “Management Structure” for our society. A new structure with flexibility will allow the newly elected Board to seek out the most experienced professional persons in the life insurance industry to be the future business leaders of the Federation who can execute our business plan in the 21st century. At the end of the 19th century, when confronted with the challenge of trying to find its place among the many small fraternal societies, our society made a wise decision to reorganize its leadership at the Convention in Homestead, Pennsylvania, thus securing its existence for the next 100 years. It is well known that one who cherishes the past learns from it. If we draw a parallel between the Homestead Convention of 1900 and the Convention in Toledo in 2000, we hope that history will repeat itself for the benefit of our beloved Federation. A new chapter is in the making for the HRFA. The three National Officers are retiring from the Federation because of the new management structure: The President, after 12 years of service - 8 as President and 4 as National Secretary - the National Secretary and Treasurer, each after 8 years of service. I am one of the retiring officers who did not seek any of the new positions. I will retire from the day-to- day operation of the HRFA. The past 12 years have been gratifying for me in every respect. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the members of the HRFA for allowing me to serve them. I also want to thank the branch managers and agents, and members of the Board of Directors for helping me to carry out the mandate that was bestowed upon me by the Conventions of 1988, 1992 and 1996.1 depart with good feelings because I have always tried my best to serve the interests of the Federation.
