Kernes, Irene Morrow, Secretary to the Nationality Movement of Ohio Governor George Voinovich of Ohio honored Vitéz László Kernes on December 20, 1997 for his leadership and loyalty to the United Society of Cleveland and the Ohio Fraternal Congress. Mr. Kemes served the United Society for 20 years as its President. He also served as President of the Ohio Fra­ternal Congress in 1984-85. Mr. Kemes is a former (retired) district manager of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, and now serves as Manager of Branch 112. On behalf of the HRFA, we wish to extend our con­gratulations to Mr. Kemes for his accomplishments. Endre Csornán, National Secretary BRANCH 134 - GR. PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA The branch meeting was opened by Branch President Marion Nagy on December 6, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. Branch Manager Olga Darnay offered a prayer. The Treasurer’s report showed a balance of $277. Mrs. Darnay reported on past and present activities: Food taken to several shut-ins; shut-ins remembered at Christmas time; making gifts for Easter for shut-ins; helping at several church dinners; baking and making noodles for fundraising; hosting Federation meeting and luncheon. Election of officers for 1998 followed. Elected were: Marion Nagy, President; William Nagy, Vice President; Olga Darnay, Treasurer; Julia Nagy, Secretary. The meeting was adjoured at 2:00 p.m. Olga Darnay, Branch Manager BRANCH 140 - CANTON, OHIO The annual branch meeting was held on December 14, 1997. Branch Vice President Steve Bodo opened the meeting at 4:00 p.m. with prayer. The officers elected for 1998 were: Steve Bodo, Presi­dent; Steven Bodo, Vice President; Anne Dohy, Treasurer; Margaret Ayers, Secretary. Because of the very good time everyone had at the spring get together and the summer picnic, we will have another spring fling, a summer picnic and a swim party. The meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m. Margaret Ayers, Branch Manager BRANCH 151 - BEAVER FALLS, PENNSYLVANIA We extend a warm welcome to the following young members of our branch: Addison Lee Beiter bom May 21,1996 in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania. Addison is the son of Joe and Beth Ann Beiter, the grandson of Bruce and Dolores Miskolczi Bishop, and the great-grandson of Elizabeth Miskolczi and the late Stephen Miskolczi.
