FRATERNITY Page 31 BRANCH 259 & 379 ­LOS ANGELES & HOLLYWOOD, CA The delegate election meeting for combined Branchs 259 and 379 was held May 5,1996 in the schoolroom of the Grace Hungarian Reformed Church in Tarazana, California, beginning at 3:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order by the President of Branch 259, the Rev. Balint Nagy, and opened with a prayer by Rev. Nagy. Branch Manager Margaret H. Saltzer greeted the members and made introductory remarks about this special delegate and alternate election meeting and the voting procedure. The meeting was duly announced in the Fraternity magazine and forty-two meeting notices were mailed to members. Nineteen out of two hundred one eligible voting members from Branch 259 signed the official voting list; no members from Branch 379 were present. Elected were: Margaret H. Saltzer, delegate; Rev. Balint Nagy, first alternate; Julia Palotay, second alternate. Branch resolutions included tentative plans for the Centennial Celebration of the HRFA to be held jointly with the 1100th Anniversary of the founding of Hungary; and the publication of a commemorative pamphlet with historical information about the HRFA; the sending of formal invitations to all members; and a formal lunch followed by a special program with guest performers. The Reverend and Mrs. Balint Nagy The meeting concluded with a prayer by the Rev. Nagy and an invitation to join the “May Festival” which was being held currently at the church. The wedding photo introduces a new member of Branch 259 as she becomes Mrs. Balint Nagy, wife of the pastor of the Grace Hungarian Reformed Church in Tarazana (formerly Reseda), California. Mrs. Nagy takes a very active part in all church events, and is especially involved with teaching children. Margaret H. Saltzer, Branch Manager BRANCH 269 - PERTH AMBOY, NJ The meeting was called to order by Branch President Bishop Francis Vitéz at the John Calvin Magyar Reformed Church, Perth Amboy, New Jersey, May 5,1996,11:00 A.M. The meeting was opened with a prayer. Bishop Vitéz recognized National President George Dózsa, who greeted the members present. The purpose of the meeting was to elect a delegate to the 35th Convention. Elected were: Bishop Francis Vitéz, delegate. No alternate was elected. Vilma Vitéz, Branch Manager & Secretary BRANCH 300 - WASHINGTON, D.C. The delegate election meeting of Branch 300 was originally scheduled for April 18, 1996 at 6:30 P.M. at the Kossuth House. Since the quorum was not met, we reconvened on April 25, 1996 at 6:30 P.M. at the Kossuth House. Sixteen voting members were present. Rev. Imre Bertalan, Branch President, opened the meeting with a short prayer. He welcomed all those present and greeted George Dózsa, President of the HRFA, as Official Observer for this special meeting. Iren J. Vallario, Branch Treasurer, read the minutes of our last branch meeting. Since the main purpose of this meeting was to elect delegates and alternates to the 35th Convention of the HRFA, Reverend Bertalan explained the voting procedures recorded in the By-Laws and stated that Branch 300, with a total membership of 756, was qualified to send three delegates to the Convention. Elected were: Rev. Imre Bertalan, Tibor Pflum and Steven Major, delegates; Francesca Ebner, first alternate; Tibor Baksy, Jr., second alternate. Martha Major, Secretary BRANCH 302 - NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ Branch 302 had its annual fundraising and fellowship dinner on March 16, 1996 at the Fellowship Hall of the Magyar Reformed Church, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Nearly two hundred people enjoyed a dinner of Koloszvari káposzta, roast pork and vegetables prepared by chefs George Dózsa, László Lipoczky and friends. The Branch earned approximately $1,500 from the dinner, from which a $500 donation to the HRFA Student Aid Fund will be presented at the 100th anniversary banquet in September.
