Page 18 TESTVÉRISÉG Director Samuel Vespremi mentioned that the 1996 Convention will be held in New Jersey in conjunction with the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Federation. He asked that if any one had old Federation-related documents to contact him. We wish to congratulate Ludwig and Mary Gebnar on their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary. May God bless them and keep them in good health and happiness. Ludwig and Mary are long-time members of the Federation, and have faithfully attended all our branch meetings. We thank our President Amalia Kulcsár for offering the refreshments. The meeting adjourned at 1:30 P.M. We would like to welcome to our Branch one of the youngest members, John Herman Rye, Jr., born March 29, 1994. He is the son of John and Katalin (nee Kulcsár) Rye of Dearborn, Mich. John is the grandson of Amalia (Amy) and Paul Kulcsár. Members of the Federation are Katalin, her little daughter Rachel Elizabeth, Amy Kulcsár, President of our Branch, and her husband Paul. Elvira Petry, Director & Branch Manager BRANCH 52 - SO. NORWALK, CT Our annual meeting was held on Sunday, November 27, 1994 at 11:30 P.M. Branch President Ernest P. Virgulák opened the meeting with a prayer. Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as read, and the Treasurer’s report was accepted as read. Reports on membership were presented to the members present by Corresponding Secretary Irene Kurimai. The fraternal activities of 1994 were reviewed by the membership: Square Dance in April and the trip to Atlantic City in May. Members were updated on the strike at the Bethlen Home, Ligonier, PA. Much concern was expressed in that members read about the strike in the Bethlen Home Newsletter which many of them receive. The upcoming 100th Anniversary of the HRFA was briefly discussed. Suggestions were discussed for fund raising events in 1995. The following donations for 1995 were approved by members: $25 to the Sunday School of the Hungarian Reformed Church (UCC); $50 to the Hungarian Reformed Church, So. Norwalk, CT; $50 to the Bethlen Home Resident Activity Fund; $ 100 to the Student Aid & Loan Fund of the HRFA. The election of officers for 1995 took place. Elected were: Ernest P. Virgulák, President; Joseph Lucskay, Vice President; Joseph Singola, Treasurer; Andrew Hutkai, Comptroller; Helen E. Sontra, Recording Secretary; Irene Kurimai, Corresponding Secretary. The next meeting (annual meeting) is scheduled for Sunday, November 26, 1995 at the Hungarian Reformed Church, So. Norwalk, CT. The meeting adjourned at 12:30 P.M. with the recitation of the Lord’s prayer. Helen E. Sontra, Recording Secretary BRANCHES 62, 84, 176 & 100 - INDIANA & ILLINOIS (CHICAGO AREA) On January 14, 1995, the Branches of the Chicago area joined together with members of the Kossuth Club to elect officers for 1995. Therefore, the elected officers of the Kossuth Club are also the officers of the Chicago area branches 62, 84, 176 and 100, namely: Julius Simon, President; Katherine Mischak, Vice President; Joseph Kovács, Treasurer; Magdolna Marjai, Secretary; Steve Mischak, Recording Secretary. Joseph Kovács, Director BRANCH 63 - BRIDGEPORT, CT Branch Manager Louis Reszoly offered the opening prayer at the annual meeting of our Branch held on March 8, 1995 at 7:00 P.M. A silent prayer was held for Bela Maritay who had recently passed away. We welcomed our youngest members Erica and Matthew Balias as well as John Garay. Because our Branch Manager underwent two surgeries, our branch did not hold any social activities. We still continue visiting the sick every third Sunday. Our project for 1995 is to recruit members for the Federation. The officers elected for 1995 are: Louis Barabas, President; Elizabeth Mocsi, Vice President; Rosemary Szepesi, Treasurer; Klara Barabas, Secretary.
