FRATERNITY Page 13 FRATERNAL DAY at the BETHLEN HOME in LIGONIER, PA Members of PA Branch 134: Mrs. Marian Nagy, Mrs. Loretta Anischenko and Mrs. Barbara Revak enjoyed making “zsíros kenyér”. H ungarians from far and near once again traveled to Ligonier to attend the annual picnic on the grounds of our beautiful Bethlen Home on Sunday, July 17, 1994. As in the past, the day started with a church service at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of the Bethlen Home, with the participation of Rev. Dr. John Butosi, Rev. Nicholas Novak and Rev. Joseph Posta. The organizers, cooks and helpers gathered in the early morning hours to prepare the langos, stuffed peppers, kolbász and sauerkraut. With the weather cooperating nicely and Martha Major of the Home Office, Underwriting Dept., and Endre Csornán, Secretary, visiting with residents of the Bethlen Home. the food smelling deliciously, we could not help feeling that this would turn out to be a very special day for us. In no time, large groups of people started arriving from far and near — they came from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. Members of the Hungarian churches from the Pittsburgh area as well as the many friends of the Bethlen Home from Ligonier were well represented. People were happy to see old friends again, to make new friendships, and spend an enjoyable day in fellowship. The food sold well and the bacon fry was enjoyed by both young and old. The proceeds from this day amounted Board Members, National Officers and Field Force Members all contributed to the success of Hungarian Picnic at the Bethlen Home in Ligonier, PA. to $1,022.75 which was donated to the Student Aid & Loan Fund of the HRFA. At this point I would like to mention that an occasion such as this again proves that there are many people who willingly help, work and sacrifice their time simply to “get together”. Therefore, events similar to this one should be encouraged since fraternal life is extended through such activities. I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this Fraternal Day a huge success. It was wonderful to be together in Christian fellowship, to enjoy Hungarian traditions with Hungarian hearts. Endre Csornán, Secretary
