FRATERNITY Page 19 report, it was seconded and carried. President Tatar then reported on the pork dinner that did not come about due to conflicting dates. A report on the Convention delegate meeting was held and the problems caused by a defeated candidate for election. Member of Board of Director, Mr. Aladar Solymosi stated that the Convention heard all of his complaints and voted them all down. He also reported on the progress of the Ohio Bethlen Home. The Federation is going ahead with this project on a smaller scale. He also reported that there will be an all-Ohio picnic on this property on Avon Lake on Saturday, June 24, 1989. All branches are to work together on this project. Branch Manager Ed Bihary asked everyone to report any changes in beneficiary so as to avoid legal problems, also name changes and address changes. He also commented on the new low rate of insurance. Discussion then followed on ways to raise funds for activities for the children. Dinners, dances, etc. Plans were started for our own local picnic on the church property. Committee is to review other ideas for funds. The officers for 1989, Rev. Aaron Elek, President; Steven Tabor, Vice President; Genevieve Bihary, Treasurer; Irene Elek, Secretary; Goldie Maxim & Rose Muller, Trustees, were installed by Branch Manager Edward Bihary. The meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m. with a prayer by Rev. Elek. We thank Mrs. Bihary and Mrs. Goldie Maxim for the refreshments and for serving them. The next meeting will be sometime in April, exact date to be announced, on the agenda will be the all- Ohio picnic as well as the local picnic. Irene B. Elek, Secretary BRANCH 369-MANHATTAN, NY On January 22, 1989 Branch President and Manager Otto J. Hamos opened the meeting with a prayer. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved and signed by Bela Szekely and István Grof-Tisza. The Treasurer's report was also accepted. The President reported to the membership on the September 1988- Convention of the Federation and on the sixteen new members of the branch. A report was also made on the branch picnic held on July 17, 1988 in the Poconos, which was a success in the purest fraternal spirit. Another picnic is planned for this summer. Place and time will be decided at the next branch meeting in May. A new membership drive has already started and four new members were written up in January 1989. The election of 1989-officers followed—elected were: Otto J. Hamos, President and Treasurer; Dr. Mario Szilard, Vice President; Magdalena Grof-Tisza, Recording Secretary; Eve E. Stiglicz, Comptroller. The next meeting will be held on May 21, 1989 at 2:00 p.m. in the conference hall of the Hungarian Reformed Church, 229 East 82nd Street, New York, NY 10028. On the agenda will be the summer picnic, membership drive, support of the Federation's new home for the old people in Ohio, and other matters of interest. Eugene Sekeres from Youngstown, Ohio, spoke about the work his church is doing in reference to the refugee resettlement program, and Anna Belle, Treasurer of the Presbyterian Church, thanked the guests for their generous offering in the church. Although the program ended in the midst of a heavy snow storm, the many guests that hurried home carried with them a warm memory of the Christmas season.
