JULIA ILLÉS FARKAS 90 YEARS OLD! Bom in Zemplén, Hungary, came to Lorain, OH in 1920 and has since been a member of the Hun­garian Reformed Church, where she has always been an active member. Her husband Alex died in 1949. She has four children, seven grand children and six great grand children. She has been a member of the Federa­tion for 47 years. * From left to right: William Aros, Director, Mr. & Mrs. Chora and Emma Aros. On March 15, 1983, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Chora suffered a great loss. While in Pittsburgh looking for work their mobile home was destroyed by fire. All their possessions were burned, all they had left was the few clothes they had with them. Mr. Chora has been unemploved for a long time and was mak­ing every effort to find work even if it was out of state. Mr. Chora came to the United States in 1957, and his wife came in 1977. They were both bom in Debrecen, Hungary, and have two children liv­ing there. A daughter age 30 and a son age 27. The Federation has graciously sent them a check for $300.00 and they are the first recipients of the recently established Disaster Fund of the Federa­tion. The Federation has established the Fund to help its members in time of need. * The meeting of Branch 168 & 31 was opened by President, Michael Pennington with a prayer of­fered by William Aros, Vice President. The following reports were given: Deceased members name are: Uriel Gove, Mrs. Emery Varadi, Daniel Ivan and Jennie Rupcic. May their memories be blessed among us. New members enrolled: Tom Sabo. Election of officers for 1983, Michael Penning­ton, president, Dr. Richard Aros, vice president, Emma Aros, secretary, branch manager. Meeting adjourned at 3:30 PM with a prayer of­fered by William Aros. E. Aros BRANCH 67 - SHARON, PA Miss Julie Szanyi, member of Branch 67, Sha­ron, PA is a sphomore at the University of Akron. Her major is speech pathology and audiology. Upon completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree she plans to attend graduate school and will specialize in the field of Audiology. Julie’s future goal is to work with the deaf and hearing impaired. While attending school she works part time at a University office dealing with the needs of handi­capped students. This young lady also finds time to be a member of the student affiliate of the American Speech and Hearing Association. We can all be proud of this young lady’s drive and determination to not only succeed professional­ly, but by doing so improve the quality of life for many hearing impaired individuals.
