hours every Day of Atonement. One of his followers suspects he is meeting secretly with the Almighty and follows him. He watches the rabbi put on coarse peasant clothes and care for an invalid woman, cleaning her cottage and preparing her food. The follower returns to the synagogue and is asked, “Did the rabbi ascend to heaven?! He replies, “If not higher!” As we minister in Christ’s name, doing what He calls us to do, convenient or not, pleasant or not, we ascend to heaven...if not higher. Another lesson is to be found in the obstacle of the stone at the entrance to the tomb. If the women had thought about it, debated it, evaluated the situation logically back at the house, they would have never made the trip. Each of us faces a multitude of similar obstacles that would keep us from doing what needs to be done. They tend to hinder our Christian outreach and service. If we try to evaluate them logically “back at the house”, we never get out onto the road. And yet it is only as we move to serve that miracles begin to happen. It is only as we act on our faith that the power and love of God become manifest in life. So don’t let those “stones’”, no matter how big they are, keep you from doing what you should be doing. If the work to which you understand God to call you needs to be done, He will roll away the stone. Finally, it is interesting to read that the women were instructed to “go tell his disciples..and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.” We are glad they overcame that silence as we read the story in other Gospels. At this point, however, it seems to be the description of many Christians in the world today. We rejoice in the greatest story ever told and are joyful to know we share in Christ’s victory over death, but we sit still, sharing it with no one. Instead of proclaiming God’s promise, we sit on the premise. You and I have a job to do. There are those who have not heard the Easter message. The task that falls to us is the task ofthat angel who met the women in the tomb. “HE IS RISEN!” are the words to shout. He is not dead, but overcame death! When you meet a friend this Easter Season, one who doesn’t know what the shouting is all about, maybe we should stop him and say, “FRIEND, DO I HAVE STORY TO TELL YOU...” Ernest Miko Pastor, St.John’s United Church of Christ, Nazareth, PA PRESIDENT’S COLUMN March is the time when signs of new life in the world around us, gladdens our heart. The intent of this column is to share with our members the signs that point to the awakening of new life in our beloved Federation. The Hungarian Reformed Federation of America is very much alive and ready to serve the Hungarian American Community, faithful to her unbroken history of nearly 87 years in true fraternal spirit. These are the signs of our activity! By the time you read this column, the insurable age should have been increased from 65 to 70. In other words, some policies will now be available for those who are over 65 years old and realize that they only have $500 policies. II Whole Life gross monthly premiums per $1000 insurance Age first $1000 additional $1000 66 $7.64 $7.12 67 $8.03 $7.51 68 $8.43 $7.91 69 $8.86 $8.34 70 $9.31 $8.79 Non-Medical Limits have been increased: Age Limit 0-30 $20,000 31-40 $20,000 41-45 $10,000 46-50 $ 5,000 51-60 $ 3,000 61-70 $ 2,000 (It is important to note that Non-Medical Applications may require a medical examination if the Medical Advisor is not satisfied with all the answers given by the proposed insurance member.) PORTFOLIO Our actuary has suggested several new policies such as — SINGLE PREMIUM PLAN - a plan that is suitable as a gift by a grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc. A single premium with no further premium required. It makes a better gift than simply paying the first premium. It can be converted to any permanent plan. TERM TO 25 INSURANCE PLAN - having annual premiums rather than a single premium. The plan would include the opportunity to convert to a like amount of permanent insurance at age 25 regardless of the insured’s state of health. 4
