FRATERNAL BENEFIT ■ A payment to the parent of a child who dies within the first six months after birth, provided that the parents have been members before the child was born. These will be decided upon at the spring Board of Directors meeting which will begin April 18> 1983 in Washington, DC. NEW COMPENSATION The Board of Directors have approved a new compensation system for our field force which is based on premium, the method used by an overshelming majority of societies. With our better than average, uniform, compensation, we hope to secure the continuous services of old agents and be able to recruit new full and part time agents. If you are interested, or know of someone who may be interested, please contact the president’s office. HOME OFFICE UPDATE The Fraternity addresses and the monthly reports are being placed into a computer for speedy reproduction. The modernization of Home Office procedures and equipment has begun so that we can more effectively and more quickly serve our members. We must accept with regret the resignation of several branch managers: Mrs. Emma Oris - Branches 3 and 39 Mrs. Elizabeth Honfi - Branch 20 James Horvath - Branch 209 Dr. Tibor Köss - Branch #378 They have faithfully served our Federation for many years, and it is with deep gratitude that we release them from their responsibilities as branch managers. Thank you for the many years of faithful service! At the same time we wish to welcome new branch managers: Leslie Katona - Branch 3 and 39 Robert Kroslin - Branch 20 Louis Bartalos - Branch 378 They are new as workers for the Federation but have been members for years and will continue the good service in their respective areas. Branch 209 will now be handled by the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy Just yesterday, the Financial report of 1982 which is completed with the assistance of our business advisors, was placed upon my desk. The HRFA is financially sound; our solvency rate has increased again; we closed our books with nearly a half million dollars profit. BUT - we need more members, and we must hold onto the members we already have. The premium income each year must justify the expenses. On one of our travels in Pennsylvania we stopped for gas. The attendant, a young man, smiled as I settled my bill, and asked about the HRFA rate book that was on the back seat. “I’ve seen that name at a friend’s house,” he said, “She’s a member!” We hope to continue to be present where we belong - in every Hungarian American home! o o o BETHLEN HOME ACTIVITY DIRECTOR CHANGES Sometimes only when change comes to our life we discover the differences and become able to examine them. That i8 what happened in the last five years in oUr nursing home since Deborah Mondon, our Activity Director is with us. Deborah’s extraordinary contribution and innovation in many programs to the cause of our residents social and physchological needs became an important part of our Home’s daily life. Through her leadership in activities, the excellent volunteer’s program, and outstanding group of 45 people to whom we are ever thankful, translated their Christian identity into action letting lonely and sick brethren know that we are a praying and caring nursing home. She reached out even further than just the perimeter of the Home and became well known and appreciated by many church groups and branches of the HRFA throughout the nation. Ag we recognize the excellence of this well-organized program, on behalf of our residents we express our gratitude and I am sure that our staff and all departments will miss her very much. Deborah, you halve poured your energy and love into the lives of your neighbors in many aspects of their needs. And in the true meaning of the word you became a “Christian” Occupational Program Director. As you leave us in the near future to go on in your vocation of motherhood (twins!) we wish you all the blessings and fulfilment in your new course of life. You grew close to our hearts and we hope to see you often in the future along with your twins. At the same time through this means, I would like to greet the newly hired Activity Director, Sherry Humbertson, who with two years expedience in the field as Activity Aide in another nursing home, will take Deborah’s place. We are looking forward for a long, equally constructive, and happy relationship. Paul Kovács, Adm. 5
