3n Jfflemoriam TIBOR TOTH Rev. Tibor Toth was born on October 21, 1905 in Nádudvar, Hajdú County, Hungary. His parents were John Toth and Lydia Vásárhelyi. He was brought to this country by his widowed mother, his aunt and grandmother in the year 1907. The family settled in Toledo, Ohio, where he received his early education. Later he attended Bloomfield College and Theological Seminary. He graduated in 1927 and was ordained to the Christian ministry by the Presbytery of Toledo (Presb.) on April 13, 1927 in the Hungarian Reformed Church, Toledo, Ohio. He married Lilly Papp of Irvington, N. J. on November 24, 1927. This marriage was blessed with a daughter, Corinne, (Mrs. William Csorgo) born on November 11th, 1929 in the city of Beaver Falls, Pa. Rev. Toth held pastorates in Beaver Falls, Pa. for 4V2 years; Elyria Ohio 3 years; East Chicago, Indiana 21/2 years; and Detroit-Alien Park, Michigan. During his 32 years of service with the Detroit-Alien Park congregation, two sanctuaries and educational complexes were built and the congregation became one of the largest in the denomination. Rev. Toth was active in civic and fraternal organizations, member and Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, Co-Chairman for many years of the Detroit Hungarian Churches and Scottish Rites, Moslem Temple. He retired to Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 30, 1971 He was called home by Almighty God on June 18th, funeral services were held in Allen Park on June 22nd. 12 ministers attended. Rev. Aladar Komjáthy, from Montreal, Canada gave the English sermon anil Rev, Imre Bertalan, president of the HRFA the Hungarian. * * * Homage to the Very Reverend Tibor Toth Today we pay our last respects to a great man, our Pastor Emeritus, and the founder of our church, The church was founded by the Very Reverend Tibor Toth in 1941 in the Delray Hungarian section of Detroit. The church prospered under his leadership and in 1959 a merger with Thaddeus Street church was accomplished At the same time the churches, as one, joined the Hungarian Reformed Church in America. In 1965 the dedication of this church, the one we are in today, took place. The church in Allen Park is the largest congregation of the Hungarian Reformed Faith in the United States. God’s church here in Allen Park is a testimonial to the greatness of our beloved Pastor Emeritus. He was charismatic in his preachings of the word of God. He was always very helpful to everyone in need in their everyday life and especially in times of sorrow. He touched many of us. I hope and pray here today with you that we draw upon our strength, as he taught us, during our sorrow in his death. We all loved him and we will all miss him. Edmund Vig, Chief Elder FRANK DEMYEN Frank Demyen was born July 24, 1907 and died on June 17, 1982. He was born in Manville, N. J. and was taken to Keleczenv at the age of 2. He returned to the United States when he was 17 years old and since then has lived in Cliffside Park, N. J. On October 10, 1936 he married Elizabeth Takacs. They have two children, Frank Demyen, Jr. and Dorothy Varga and three grandchildren. He was a member of the Free Hungarian Reformed Church since 1930 and was the treasurer for 25 years. He was a branch manager and agent for the Hungarian Reformed Federation for about 30 years. In 1956 he assisted in the resettlement by sponsoring several young men, securing them employment and helping them until they were settled in this country. He had worked for the Aluminum Company of America until he retired in 1971.
