Branch No. 223 Frank Szabó 25.00 Total $330.00 The Chicago Section of the Hungarian Reformed Federation sxperienced a particularly eventful year. It began with grief at the death of our beloved Section Manager, the Reverend Dr. Arthur A Ludwig, who died on February 24th. In March the various local Branches continued to show their cohesivness by participating in the March 15th program held in Reverend Ludwig’s church. Many of our members and branch managers were present and reaffirmed their fellowship. We were particularly grateful to have present with us, Mr. Charles Modory and his wife, Helen. Mr. Modory spoke to us briefly about the Federation and its work as a fraternal organization. In September we celebrated the 85th anniversary of the Federation with a Dinner-Dance held at the Lynwood Church Hall. We were especially fortunate to have Reverend and Mrs. Bertalan with us. Reverend Bertalan’s inspiring address and his special gift to us, the singing of two Bartók songs, set the tone for a lovely evening. We were also very pleased to have with us two members of the Board of Directors and their lovely wives. The Modorys came from South Bend and brought with them the Suchs and their guests. The excellent spirit and success of our celebration would not have been possible without the special efforts of the following branch managers and their wives: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kovács, Mr. and Mrs. William Hotoran, and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Simlon. We are happy to report that our year which began so sadly, ended with a note of joy. On Christmas Eve, we could celebrate two-fold — the birth of Christ and the special gift of a baby son to our branch manager Joseph Kovács and his wife Maria Beres. 4
