6 FRATERNITY FROM THE FIELD As good news from the field, we are happy to announce that the months of June and July were very busy ones in creative work, progress, appointments and gaining new members. In July we sealed the merger of the Cleveland Hungarian Young Men’s and Ladies’ Society with our Federation. This fine organization joined our big family with 600 members, with their home office building in the heart of “Old Buckeye Road” in Cleveland and with assets totaling close to half a million dollars. The merger banquet, given in honor of the members of the Cleveland Society by our Federation, was held in the Bethlen Hall of the First Hungarian Reformed Church and attended by close to 500 people. Along with the Secretary, who for more than two years had been negotiating the merger with the officials of the Society as well as the Insurance Department of the State of Ohio, our Federation was represented by its President, the Rt. Rev. George E. K. Borshy; Mr. Albert A. Fiok, Legal Counsellor; Mr. Jack H. Zeitlin, Accountant; Mr. Joseph Benedek, Field Supervisor, and Mr. Elmer E. Vargo, District Manager. The Cleveland Society was represented by its group of officers. Seated at the head table were: Mr. John Pecsok, President; Mr. Joseph Komyati, Vice President; Mr. Paul Knoll, Financial Secretary; Mr. Charles Hartman, Treasurer, and Mrs. Anna Kara, Recording Secretary. From the Ladies’ Auxiliary: Mrs. Stephen Balogh, President; Mrs. Paul Dudás, Recording Secretary; Mrs. S. Feher, Mrs. Louis Juriasz and Mrs. S. Livak, Trustees. Our local churches were also well represented by their pastors. Dr. Stephen Szabó, Supreme Council Member, gave the invocation; the Reverend Stephen Csutoros reviewed the history of the Cleveland Society, and the Reverend Matthias Daroczy, Member of the Supreme Council, pronounced the benediction. We were happy to have with us two other Members of our Supreme Council: Mr. Sigmund Palagyi, from Elyria, Ohio, and Mr. William Szuch, from Sharon, Pennsylvania. In order to better serve our entire membership in Cleveland and vicinity, whose number, through this merger, increased to more than 4,000, our District Office w’as transferred to the former home office of the merged Cleveland Society, at 11215 Buckeye Road, Cleveland 4, O. In this new District Office our Supervisor, Mr. Joseph Benedek; our District Manager, Mr. Elmer Vargo, and our Section Managers, Mr. Joseph Dula and Mr. Joseph Arnosky, are available daily in organizational and branch matters, as well as for all types of insurance counselling. All members and interested parties are urged to take advantage of the fine services offered in our new Cleveland District Office. NEW DISTRICT OFFICE OPENED IN BRIDGEPORT, CONN. July 15 was the opening date of another one of our district offices in the New York and Connecticut District. This new office, in Bridgeport, Conn., was also opened for the purpose of giving better service, making our fraternal work and fine insurance plans better known to the members, as well as to the general public in the Connecticut area. It is, therefore, with pleasure that in our first issue since the official
