28 FRATERNITY 86. The President asked the Convention to elect a moderator to conduct the election. The Convention, from among the two nominees, Matthias Daroczy and Zoltán Vajda, elected Mat­thias Daroczy with a large majority of votes, who promptly withdrew his membership from the Nominating Committee. 87. Sigmund Palagyi, delegate, requested the Convention to have a closed meeting during the election. Upon the opposition of many delegates, this was turned down by the Convention. 88. Dr. Francis Újlaki, President, recessed the meeting until the Nominating Committee completes its work. 89. At 1:30 P. M., after the singing of the hymn, “Rise Friends, Under the Flag of Dear Jesus”, and being led in prayer by Dr. Stephen Szabó, delegate, singing also “I Lift My Heart to Thee”, Matthias Daroczy, Chair­man, opened the Convention and cordially greeted the returned Nomi­nating Committee, asking its President to give a report. 90. Zoltán Vajda, President of the Committee, reported that they have accomplished their responsibilities, “kept all interests before their eyes — and solved all problems”; he then requested Louis Nagy, Sec­retary, to submit the report. 91. Matthias Daroczy, Chairman, upon the request of the Counselor- at-Law, ordered a roll call, after which he stated that the number of valid votes is 87; therefore, 45 votes are necessary for an absolute majority. 92. Louis Nagy, Secretary, read the report of the 20-member Nomi­nating Commttee according to which the following nominations were made: For the office of President: 1) Dr. Francis Újlaki, 2) George E. Kerekes Borshy. For the office of Secretary: 1) George E. Kerekes Borshy, 2) Joseph Kecskemethy, 3) Charles Papp. For the office of Treasurer — unanimously: Emery Király. For the office of Auditor: 1) Edmund Vasvary, 2) Dr. Gabriel Ujfalussy, 3) László Eszenyi. First Vice President: 1) Charles Papp, 2) Géza Veszprémi, 3) Stephen Bessemer, 4) Francis Nagy. Second Vice President: 1) Alexander Daroczy, 2) Francis Nagy, 3) Sigmund Palagyi, 4) Stephen Bessemer. For members of the Supreme Council the Committee nominated: New York District: Stephen Syposs, Stephen Bessemer, John Nagy (Bridgeport). New Jersey District: Dr. Andrew Kosa, Zoltán Beky, Joseph Molnár (Branch 20), Bertalan Szathmary.
