Gábor Aradi: Development of the telephone network in Szekszárd (1884-1914) The widespread use of the telephone which was one of the greatest inventions of the 19 th century was not realized until 1904. Before this date, only private investors, companies and later county authorities gave commission to build closed telephone network. In the 1890s, there had been attempts to build a national network, however these attempts all failed. In 1904, the first public network was established with 20 subscribers. Before World War I., all of the county's larger settlements were connected to the national telephone network. The writer also introduces the institutional and organizational framework which helped the telephone network development. Eva Ruzsa: An architect from Szekszárd: László Dicenty The study follows László Dicenty 's life, who returned to Szekszárd at the same time as the county-seat became a municipality. The first part of the essay introduces the architect's family in the context of its 19* century relatives, since these relationships helped László Dicenty 's future career to develop. Furthermore, the author simultaneously presents the works of the maestro and his building enterprise. The success of the enterprise is presented by the author through László Dicenty 's popularity and fame within the local community. As a closure of the study, the writer touches upon the immediate family of Dicenty.
