Posledično se, pri identifikaciji različnih tipov jezikovnih problemov, ne naslanja predvsem na strokovno literaturo, ali na lastne izkušnje, temveč na empirične podatke: del teh je pridobljenih iz anket, ki jih so izpolnili univerzitetni oz. visokošolski študenti oddelkov za madžarski jezik v Sombotelu (Madžarska), Bratislavi (Slovaška) in v Mariboru (Slovenija), drugi del pa izhaja iz jezikovnih dnevnikov, ki sojih izdelovali univerzitetni študenti Oddelka za madžarščino v Bratislavi v letih med 2006 in 2008. Language Problem and School This paper deals with the role of the minority language schools in preventing and solving language problems in Hungarian speech communities in the countries around Hungary. By language problems the author means problems arising in the process of producing and encoding spoken or written texts, as well as problems attached to language use in any other way. Such problems typically make the speakers uneasy, they hamper or sometimes even disable communication in the chosen language or language variety. As the word problem shows, language problem is an “issue” which calls for solution. The solution may mean settling an existing problem or prevent­ing an anticipated problem. The theoretical framework of the paper is that of the language management theory, in which problems are identified by the everyday speakers and not by linguists or other specialists. This is why the types of language problems are determined primarily not on the basis of language planning literature or the author’s own experience, but mainly on empirical data. They come partly from questionnaires filled by university students studying Hungarian in Szomathely (Hungary), Bratislava (Slovakia) and Maribor (Slovenia) and partly from language diaries of students of Hungarian in Bratislava. 252
