143. évfolyam (2006) Supplementum I. For statistical analysis, the t-test was used. The mean score-change of the eye symptoms, making a comparison between the initial state and the treated state at either 5 minutes or at 3 weeks, was highly significant (p<0.001). The change was also significant in patients who had been previously treated locally or systemically with antiallergic drugs, as well as in the contact-lens wearers. Serious undesirable incidents were not reported during the period of the study. Initially 14.6% of the patients reported a burning sensation in the eye after instilling Zaditen, which reduced to 6.9 % after the 3-week period of therapy. The preparation was well-tolerated by the patients, and the dosage was safe. The study examined a uniquely large number of Hungarian patients. The results show that the effect of Zaditen eye-drops is rapid and prolonged, and that they are well-tolerated. They are a worthwhile ophthalmic treatment for allergy sufferers in this country. A műtétet cardialis szövődmények miatt nem lehetett elvégezni. Konzervatív therápia mellett szemhéjoedemája megszűnt, exophthalmusa mérséklődött. Megbeszélés: Féloldali exophthalmust okozhatnak az orbita keringési zavarai, gyulladásai, sérülései, tumorai. A melléküregi osteoma viszonylag gyakori benignus daganat, irodalmi ritkaság azonban, hogy intracranialisan vagy intraorbitalisan terjedjen. On CT scan an osteoma of the frontal and ethmoidal sinus, that protruded 16 mm into the orbital cavity, was diagnosed. Surgery was not possible because of cardiac complications. By conservative therapy the oedema of the eyelids resolved, and the exophthalmus lessened. Discussion: Causes of one-sided exophthalmus may be: disturbances in blood flow, inflammation, injury, or tumours of the orbit. Osteoma of the paranasal sinuses is a relatively frequent benign tumour, but its extension to the orbital cavity and anterior cranial fossa is a rarity.
