В материалах в 1-ой Глазной клиники Будапешта за 11 лет было 461 случая неврита зрительного нерва. Из них только в 8 случаях нашли клиническую картину, характерную для сегментального неврита. Автор знакомит на основе литературных данных и своих наблюдений симптомами, течением и дифференциальной диагностикой заболевания. По мнению автора на основе характерной клинической картины, благоприятного прогноза и тенденции к полному излечению сегментальный неврит зрительного нерва может быть признан как отдельная нозологическая единица.

Unter den 461 Fällen von Neuritis nervi optici, die in der I. Augenklinik der Medizinischen Universität Budapest während 1 I Jahre beobachtet wurden, hat Verfasser bei 8 Kranken ein für Neuritis nervi optici segmentalis bezeichnendes Krankheitsbild gefunden. Auf Grund der Angaben des Schrifttums sowie der eigenen Beobachtungen werden die Symptome, der Verlauf der Krankheit und die Differentialdiagnostik besprochen. Nach Ansicht des Verfassers ist die Neuritis nervi optici segmentalis mit Rücksicht auf das charakteristische klinische Bild, die gute Prognose und die Neigung zur vollständigen Heilung als ein selbständiges Krankheitsbild zu betrachten.

In the 11 years’ material of the 1st Department of Ophthalmology of the University Medical School, Budapest, out of 461 cases of neuritis nervi optici in 8 patients a clinical picture characteristic of neutitis nervi optici segmentalis has been found by the author. On the basis of the data of the literature and the own observations, the symptoms and the course are discribed and the differential diagnosis discussed. In the opinion of the author, the neuritis nervi optici segmentalis is — in view of the characteristic clinical picture, the good prognosis and the disposition to complete healing — to be considered as a separate clinical picture.
