1982. The church also has two large-sized statues, de­picting The Holy Virgin, St. Anthony, and the stations of the passion. Despite the attempts of Károlyi family to impose Catholicism as single religion among the people of Căpleni, the Protestant community resisted during the 18th century. In 1745, there were 15 Calvinists who had their own priest and would hold sermons in a modest house. The first Protestant church was built of wood, in 1784, with a tower and covered with cane. The number of Calvinists increased to 240 until the middle of the 19th century, making it necessary to build a new edifice of worship (1823), but, at this time, it was made of brick. The present Calvinist Church of Căpleni has a modern architecture, and was built in 2004. The old building was demolished two years later, in 2006. The first sources on the school of Căpleni date from 1806. A Roman Catholic confessional school operated in the village at this time, the courses being held in a wooden house. A new school building was made in 1873. When the Greek-Catholic children began to at­tend school in 1885, the number of classes and teach­ers increased to two. 135 children attended school in the last third of the 19th century but, in 1901, when the school became common for both Roman-Catholics and Greek-Catholics, the number of students increased to 248.
