If the mobility of European archivists is to be increased, there is still much to be done. Existing consultative structures are restricted to management to too great an extent, and offer too little scope to younger archivists. At present employment abroad is scarce and difficult. The first step is to set up an en effective program of placements, to be organised by the Member States.
