His death caused the frantic renascence of respect besides the regularly established public commemorations and in the settlements social clubs were formed. These clubs supported and kept the memory of the heritage of 1848. The people of Zenta named a street Kossuth during his lifetime and even awarded him honorary citizenship on 15 March 1887. After his death collecting began for a Kossuth's memorial column by the initiation of the farmer's club. Later on the occasion of the 100 th anniversary of his birth there was another collection for a sculpture but unfortunately neither of them was finished. This way the new iron bridge was named after him. These ways of remembrance can be found in Magyarkanizsa, too. Moreover, here the magistracy requested Member of Parliament the hermit of Turin in 1870 but he refused.
