Rezümék

After the total redemption the decree of 1826, the aim of which was to manage the town's life, set the duties of the office-bearers in details. Most of its instructions is the result of the town's series of decisions as it tried to get out of control of the nobility's general assembly of the county. To win the privilege of 1837 the duties of each position were defined in a way that the manorial authority of the town could clearly be seen. Moreover, the town was watching its interests and income, as well. Until 1848 every three year the free and privileged autonomic community elected its magistrates only from among the inhabitants who had redeemed their provisions from their landlords earlier. They elected the new leader of the town, the judges fulfilling judicatory tasks as well as the mayor who governed economy. Vocational intellectuals were appointed to positions that required special economic or legal knowledge. The most suitable citizen of Nyíregyháza was elected for an indefinite period to the position which required long-years' practice. The introductory essay of the book gives a list of the town's office-bearers, describing their jobs and the changes that took place in their tasks. In the second part some decrees are published in full and partial forms as well as with references. With the help of these decrees the scope of the above mentioned positions' duties can be outlined. The archontology introduces the people bearing positions of the town. In the appendix the names and functions of the people and families are collected that belonged to the administrative élite, which was formed from the beginning of the 19 tn century.
