district administrators of the comitats became the main officials of documentexecution. The documents that were drawn up by them are regarded as excellent sources of studying the office-bearers of the comitats. The essay gives the list of the three comitats' office-bearers and the places where the data occur. These data can be found in the three comitats' collection of documents. In the 12 th century the permanent reeves of Nyitra county were the bishops of Nyitra. However, at the same time the office was generally held by a layman, as well. Most of the reeves still held the office of the reeve of Leva in Bars county even in the 14 th century. It also occured that the same person headed both counties.
