II. A magyarországi sörfőzés története

meghatározó gyárává vált. A kommunista fordulat után mindegyiket államosították, de a temesvári gyárat egyúttal korszerűsítették is, az 1960-70-es években új épületet és palackozó sort is kapott. Az 1990-es évek fejlesztései után a 2000-es években az új tulajdonos, a SAB-Miller ismét korszerűsítést hajtott végre. Felújították az épületeket úgy, hogy a 18. századi építészeti stílust és a sörfőző hagyományokat megtartották. A Temesvári Sörgyár 300 éves fennállása óta kiegyensúlyozottan ötvözi a hagyományt és a legmodernebb technológiát. 2017-től az új tulajdonos a kőbányai Dréher sörgyárat tulajdonló japán ASAHI Group Holding. Az üzem a város egyik jelképévé vált, sörei (Ursus, Timi§oreana, Ciuca§, Stejar) pedig ma is népszerűek.

At that time, they produced 55,000 hectolitres of beer in an industrial area covering 225,000 square metres, with some 140 employees and steam engines. After World War I, the majority of the company's employees "repatriated" (i.e. they left the territory that was attached to Romania as a consequence of the Trianon Treaty and moved to Hungary), but the company's chief executive, Oszkár Szidon, continued to stay at the helm. By 1919 annual production capacity had surged to 250,000 hectolitres. In the interwar period the company served as the royal supplier of the Romanian monarch Ferdinand I (1865- 1927), and it produced five different types of beers in this capacity: they were sold under the names Casino, Corvin and English Porter. In 1929 the company Frigyes Czell and Sons, which also owned the breweries in Kolozsvár (Cluj) and Brassó (Bra§ov, both in Romania), bought the brewery. The brewery emerged as the dominant brewery in the Romanian market. After the communist takeover, all of the breweries were nationalised, but at the same time the brewery in Temesvár was modernised. It was given a new building and new bottling line in the 1960- 70s. Following further upgrades in the 1990s, in the 2000s the new owner, SAB-Miller, implemented another round of modernisation. They renovated the buildings while keeping in place the original 18th century architectural style along with the brewery traditions. Over its 300- year history, the Temesvár Beer Factory has provided a balanced mix of tradition and cutting-edge technology. As of 2017, its new owner is the Japanese ASAHI Group Holding, which also owns the Dreher Brewery in Kőbánya, a major Hungarian beer producer. Brewery has become one of the landmark buildings in the city, and its beers (Ursus, Timi§oreana, Ciuca§, Stejar) continue to be popular.
