1972 augusztus elsején léptem be a Borsodi Sörgyárba mint vegyésztechnikus. 1968-tói 1972-ig Kazincbarcikán az Irinyi János Vegyipari Technikumba jártam középiskolába, és amikor végeztem, a szüleim nem nagyon tudták vállalni a felsőfokú továbbtanulást, úgyhogy munkahelyet kerestünk. Két lehetőség közül választhattam: abban az évben kezdte a próbaüzemet a Borsodi Sörgyár, vagy mehettem volna Miskolcra a tejüzembe.

Mivel Barcikán kollégista voltam, hazautazásaimkor láttam, hogy Bocs határában már épülnek a silók, de akkor még nem nagyon tudtam, hogy mit építenek.

Azután újságokból, meg innen-onnan tudta az ember, hogy itt sörgyár és malátagyár épül. Én júniusban leérettségiztem, és akkor bekopogtam a sörgyárba, hogy lesz-e vegyésztechnikus-felvétel, vagy van-e lehetőség. Az akkori főmérnök fogadott, és közölte, hogy a gyárban lesz laboratórium is, és lesz munkalehetőség is. Ekkor mondtam, hogy még egy hónapot pihennék, érettségi után egy kicsit lazítanék, de augusztus elsején, hogyha megfelelne, akkor jelentkeznék. Tulajdonképpen az első árpával érkeztem a gyárba, mert akkor kezdte meg a beszállítást a Hernádnémeti téesz, ami később nagy árpatermelője volt a malátagyárnak. A felvételi papírom aláírására nem is tudom, hány órát kellett várni, mert az egész műszaki stáb kint volt a garatnál, és nézték, hogy indulnak a rédlerek meg az elevátorok, mert indult az árpaátvétel és betárolás a silókba. Csak ez után írták alá a felvételi lapomat. Valamikor decemberben, novemberben, már majdnem tél volt, akkor alakítottak ki egy átmeneti laboratóriumot, oda kerültem, mint vegyésztechnikus.

Aztán, nem is tudom mikor, talán \9Ti-ban, csoportvezetőnek kineveztek, viszonylag hamar, egy éven belül. 1974-беи elmentem katonának. I joined the Borsod Brewery on 1 August 1972 as a chemical technician. From 1968-1972 1 attended the János Irinyi Vocational School of Chemistry, and when I graduated my parents could not afford to have me continue in higher education, so we looked for a place where 1 could begin to work. 1 was faced with one of two options: That was the year when the Borsod Brewery began to operate, so I could join them, or 1 could have gone to the dairy farm in Miskolc. As I was a boarding student in Kazincbarcika, I saw the silos being built on the edges of Bocs, but 1 didn't really know at the time what was being built. Based on newspaper articles and hearsay, I was able to figure out that a beer and malt factory was being constructed. 1 completed my grammar school studies in June and then I knocked on the door at the brewery, asking if they were planning to hire any chemical technicians. The chief engineer talked to me and said that the brewery would feature a lab, too, and that there'd be job openings. 1 told him that 1 would like to rest for another month, to take it easy for a while after graduating from school, but in early August I'd like to apply if that was all right. Practically, I arrived at the brewery at the same time as the first barley, because that's when the agricultural collective in Hernádnémet - which was later a major producer of barley for the malt factory - began their deliveries. I had to wait several hours for my application forms to be signed because the entire technical staff were out at the loading funnel watching the conveyor chain and the elevators starting up because the barley delivery was being received and the barley was being deposited in silos. If was only after that that my papers were signed. At some point in December or in November - it was almost winter - they set up a temporary lab where 1 started as a chemical technician.

Then, I am not even sure when, maybe it was 1973,1 was appointed unit manager. This happened relatively quickly, within a year. In 1974 1 began my military service. Upon my discharge, 1 went back to the brewery and began my distance learning studies at the Veszprém University of Chemical Engineering. They concluded a student agreement with me, and when 1 completed my studies I was transferred from the lab into production. At first, 1 worked
