MŰHELY - Entz Géza: Javaslat a Dehio rendszerű műemléki topográfiai kézikönyv programjának bevezetésére
of Tibor Gerevich from 1934 on, as a result of fifteen years' work published in 1951 a one volume of Hungary's monuments the first Hungarian small topography covering the whole territory of the country Later enlarged to three volumes it was published between 1959-1961 in a second edition illustrated and supplemented with literature. The work started in the 80's at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences could be built on this work's huge bibliography Another model of the Academic project from points of content and edition was the Austrian Dehio program (its realized form was the Fejér county volume by Géza Antal Entz and József Sisa. (The Historic Monuments of Fejér County. Székesfehérvár, 1998.) did not actually reach the ideal purpose. Several experts' and scientific reasons speak for the use of the Dehio-system inventory type. The collection of material, the principles of edition, typography, illustration and cover all are the results of decades of generations' work. It is easy to get quickly information concerning the different monuments and have a complex view of a region's art historical, industrial historical and other aspects. The cover and style of the book is also an important point, which was formed in 1900 in a proposal given in Dresden on a handbook, which could be used on writing desk and during travelling similarly. (Erster Tag für Denkmalpflege. Dresden, 24 und 25. September 1900. Berlin 1900. 31.) In the present situation of research in Hungary however not the German Dehio handbook, but its Austrian version should be taken into consideration as the original German one was a selection while the Austrian put together the elements of the former and art history. That is the „Dehio" had the role in Austria of the so-called „Kurzinventar". It might be clear that the starting of the Genthon-Dehio program would organically suit into the course of Hungarian topographic research and its results in the last two decades. It would be able to bring results at the beginning already without unworkable requirements of personal and financial conditions.
