In dieser, eine Lücke füllenden Ausstellung mit reicher Thematik (Veranstalter: Ernst-Museum, Ungarisches Architekturmuseum, Ungarisches Nationales Filmarchiv, Budapester Kinohistorische Sammlung des Budapest Films und Másképp-Stiftung) konnten die Besucher mehrere Aspekte der Bedeutung des Kinos kennenlernen; einige Kapitelle der Geschichte des ungarischen Films genauso, wie ihre Stellung in der ungarischen Architektur. Auch andere zum Thema passenden Kunstgattungen (z.B. Plakate) wurden vorgestellt. Auch zwei Publikationen erschienen zur Schau. Der Katalog mit dem Titel „Budapester Kino", der die Kinoräume aus der Sicht der Stadt­und Architekturgeschichte untersucht, ihre Bedeutung in der Kulturgeschichte Budapests im 20. Jahrhundert vorzeigt. Das Heft über die Budapester Kinogeschichte schwört die Atmosphäre der damaligen Kinobesuche herauf. Klára KOVÁCS HUNDRED YEARS OF THE MOVIES IN BUDAPEST. The beginnings of Hungarian movie history can be connected to an exact date: the first film was shown in December, 1895, and the first firm established with this purpose was working as early as the summer of 1896, but as a result of the missing interest it soon did not exist any more. The film shows held in different places - cafés, tents, pavilions - were at the beginning enough for the public. A characteristic type of the period following World War I used to be the movie of one, long hall which was formed by function and was the result of the narrow down­town building sites. The majority of them were created in the capital. At the beginning of the 1910's 270 movies were existing in historic Hungary and 92 of them were to be found in Budapest. The differentiation of movies according to the social requirements soon began and this was reflected in the interior decoration as well. This tendency had strengthened fol­lowing World War I and the needs of the visitors influenced the architectural forms of movies. A new period came with the revolutionary changes of the 30's when the emergence of sound movie coincided with the appearance of new architectural principles. This caused the rebuilding of earlier movies and theatres and created the classical type of apartment house movies. The stress was laid on the large number of audience and high quality service. This was served by the architectural details: wide auditorium, pits and galleries and technical results like the practicable roof. Following World War II the development of architecture stopped and after it recon­struction became important. New movies were not built in the following decades, and
