Since the early 7900s Jenő Cholnoky was induced by his appreciation of the Hungarian Nation to investigate the ethnographical conditions ofHungary and present them on maps and to describe the geographical position of Hungary. Unintentionally, this became a basis for the committee preparing for the Trianon peace treaty. Beginning with November 7979 he was member and then head of the Preparation Bureau for Peace Negotiations he tried to prove the absurdity of the peace treaty with the tools of geography. He was aware that the case is already settled but he cherished hope in his belief and the strength of science. The paper treats all events and geographical methods which were employed by Cholnoky in order to persuade political decision-makers on the illogical nature of the planned border changes.
