CSÓTI, CSABA: THE HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION OF THE ARCHIVES OF THE HUNGARIAN SOCIALIST WORKER’S PARTY’S SOMOGY COUNTY COMMITTEE, 1962-1972. THE REPORT OF ANTAL ANDRÁSSY ARCHIVES DIRECTOR, 1973 (SOURCE PUBLICATION) The organization of the Archives of Hungarian Socialist Worker’s Party’s Somogy County Committee was very fast: it had started at the beginning of 1962 and was finished in 1964. They collected during these two years the documents of the Hungarian Working People’s Party. This fast „consolidation” was mostly due to the personal enthusiasm and work capacity of Antal Andrássy who was in charge with the organization and the direction. The director of the Archives made a report to the 14th of September 1973 (for the county propaganda meeting) which throws light on the history of the collection of the documents and the organization of the documents’ protection. From this report we get knowledge about the systematic and less systematic gatherings of the documents started in 1962. Moreover the report accurately describes the development of the Archives’ system. The introduction written to the source unambiguously falsifies the still living opinion according to which the party archives organized after 1956 imitated the soviet model. The citations from other sources and from the contemporary archives special literature as well as the source itself make unambiguous that during the establishment of the Somogy County Party Archives the observations of the Somogy County Archives helped firstly in the forming of the Party Archives’ system. The guides made by the colleagues of the Institute of Party History and the National Archives till 1964 were only completed and systematize by the above-mentioned system of the Party Archives.
