CSÓTI, CSABA: GLOSSES ON THE HISTORY OF 1945-49 OF THE SOMOGY COUNTY GYPSIES. I. In the first part of his publication the author examines the estimation of the Gypsies living in Somogy county, as it appears in the contemporary higher level administrational documents. It is shown that in the „transitional era” examined, in parallel with the disintegration of public safety, the aversion against the Gypsies as a community increased. In his analysis the author points out that from the documents reflecting the contemporary common talk it is evident: in phrasing the opinions of the Gypsies the use of expressions borrowed from racist, especially anti-Semitic manner of speech can be considered common. Furthermore, opinions were quite common according to which the so-called Gypsy problem sould be solved by gathering them in labour- or collective camps. In the second part of the publication, based on the register of the „Gypsy judge” in Hold Street of the years 1947-1950, he concludes that in spite of some intolerant and racist views reflected in the documents of the county’s administration, there existed in Kaposvár an integrational practice for the Gypsies - reaching back to the 1920s- and the Gypsy families of Hold Street were committed members of that integration. 178
