J GIVES LECTURE Mr. Ferdinand Metzger, special correspondent of Hungarian and Italian newspapers, gave a lecture on Monday in the Japanese language on Hungaiian history and historic criticism pertaining to the Hun- , Avar legends dating back to the fifth century at Taisho University. Mr. Metzger also read selected poems of Alexander Petőfi, the great Hungari­an poet and national hero who died in the battle for Hungarian liberty I in 1819. Dr. Kufakichi shiratori, professor emeritus of the Imperial University gave an Introductory address and Viscount Naokaau Nabeshima gave a short account of the present Japa- nese-Hungarian relations. Mr. Metzger, who translated and publish­ed a collection of Petofi’s most ( popular .poems this spring, is spon- ( soring the foundation of a Petőfi c Society in Japan, with the epoper- l ation of Professor Shiratori and v Viscount Nabeshima. £
