STUDIES - Astrid Kaptijn: Codex Canonum Ecclesiarum Orientalium - Important Questions

178 ASTRID KAPTIJN these three concepts before examining their meaning in the actual CCEO. A lecture of comparison about the «Lex Ecclesiae Fundamentalis and the two Codes», was delivered by Ivan ZUZEK, emeritus professor of the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome, who, as Secretary of the Commission for the revision of the Code of Eastern Canon Law, was the right person to present to the participants his knowledge about the subject. The absence in the CCEO of a text equivalent to c. 96 of the Codex Iuris Canonici (CIC) provoked some discussion between the participants and professor Zuzek. Some important themes of the CCEO were treated by four other speakers. Cyril VASIL’, professor at the Pontifical Oriental Institute, spoke about «Patriarch and Synodality». Another important theme of the CCEO is the enrollment of each baptised person in a Church sui iuris. This theme was the object of a lecture by Astrid KAPTIJN, associate professor at the Faculty of Canon Law in Paris. The canons of the CCEO on enrollment were presented in the context of their origin, which highlighted the aspects that occupied
