Its officials, the auditors, the quantity controllers administered accountant tasks at the beginning, too, but írom 1927 these were taken over by the auditing office of the Hungarian Royal Financial Directorate, an independent organisation attached to the Financial Directorate, the auditing assigned beside the Budapest and Vicinity Hungarian Royal Financial Directorate took over this task. At the beginning its competence covered Kecskemét and Esztergom counties as well, but later on they withdrew and established an individual district. Alter its termination in 1950 the tasks of the financial directorate were taken over by the special organisations of the council. From the agricultural special bodies beside the documents of the hundred and the district economic supervisors, the surviving material of the Hungarian Civil Engineering Office (6,60 lm) is worth to mention. The forestry management was brought tinder control several times during the indicated period. Accordingly, several verderer, forest-administration and forest office documents came into the care taking of the Archives, but only those belonging to the Budapest Hungarian Royal Verderer is worth to mention (1881-1951; 13,45 lm). In this archive unit the documents of the afforestation and especially the programs of the afforestation and wasteland improvement in the Alföld are searched. The task of the Civil Engineering Department was to design and implement the works in relation to the technical soil improvement, furthermore to carry out the tasks related to the implementation of the water act. Water rule permits and the regulation of waters under state management also belonged to their responsibility. In its archive unit, under our guidance, the documents are organised upon articles; but working with them is made more difficult by the fact that its reference books have been almost fully destroyed, flowever, the register of the storehouse can be used well during research. From the special organisations for transport only the documents of Budapest State Construction Office remained (from the years between 1877 and 1950 5,22 lm). The office carried out the construction, management and maintenance of the state and county roads in the area of the county. Only the reference books from after 1940 are to be found in the Archives, but in the storehouse register the individual, completed works are indicated (with location). Amongst the special organisations for educational management, beside the fragmentary school boards and school administrations we take care of the documents of the Budapest Vicinity District Inspectorate of Schools (1881-1949; approx. 23 lm) and the schoolinspector of Pest-Pilis-Solt County (1902-1949; approx. 13,5 lm). In the material of the District Inspectorate of Schools - which mainly supervised and controlled the secondary schools of the district- there are qualifying tables of the teachers, statements of the grammar school leaving exams, report cards and almanacs. The school-inspector, whose competence was to supervise the state-, village-, denominational-, private- and associationelementary- and higher public education institutes and nursery schools, was nominated by the minister of religion and public education. His most important task was to supervise the precise implementation and professionalism of the contents of the public education act. 181
