Head from above (Fig. 72) 2.0 x as wide as long, nearly 1.2 x as wide as mesosoma, shiny, without occipital carina, reticulate with rather large meshes which are hardly transverse on occiput, more so on vertex, even more so on frons, most so just above antennae. OOL equal to diameter of lateral ocellus. Head in frontal view 1.2 x as wide as high; antenna (Fig. 73) with Al 0.9 x as long as height of head. Mesosoma hardly 1.5 x s long as wide, nearly 1.2 x as high as wide. Sides of pronotum in upper half weakly reticulate with large meshes, rest smooth. Mesoscutum with sparse hairs, distinctly reticulate, smooth postero-medially, without notauli; hind margin medially with a narrow, dark (not swollen) prolongation to base of scutellum; scuto-scutellar grooves with numerous hairs. Propodeal carinae fused, slightly semitransparent. Fore wing just overreaching tip of metasoma, 2.8 x as long as wide, almost clear, with sparse and short microtrichia, without marginal cilia. Hind wing 5.9 x as long as wide; marginal cilia 0.3 width of wing. Metasoma (Fig. 74) 1.3 x as long as head and mesosoma combined, as wide as head, 1.5 x as wide as high. T2 smooth except for weak reticulation along hind margin; T3-T6 each with a transverse stripe of weak reticulation, with numerous superficially implanted hairs. Material examined - Holotype female: Mongolia, Bajanchongor aimak, spring Talyn Bilgech bulag 47 km E of border post Caganbulag, 1200 m, 23.VI.1967. Remarks - Differs from S. euryale (WALKER, 1835) e.g. in having smoothly rounded occiput, more convex scutellum, and relatively longer T2, cf. VLUG (1985). With regard to the closely related S. neglectus sp. n., cf. under this. Synopeas Imyles (WALKER, 1835) Material examined - 1 female, Cojbalsan aimak, 50 km SE of Cojbalsan, 700 m, 16. VIII. 1965; 1 female, Central aimak, SE of Somon Bajanzogt, 1600 m, 11 .VI. 1966; 3 females, 2 males, Bulgan aimak, 30 km NNW of Somon Daschincilen, 1200 m, 15.VI.1968; 1 female, Bulgan aimak, between Somon Chischig-Öndör and Somon Orchon, 23 km NNE of Somon Chischig-Öndör, 1390 m, 15.VI.1968; 1 female, Uvs aimak, sand area Altan els, 35 km WNW of Somon Tes, 1400 m, 23 .VI. 1968. Remarks - The specimens differ only from VLUG's (1985) description of S. myles in having weaker scutellar spine.
