Makhan, D.: Three new genera and two new species of Hydrochidae from different parts of the World (Coleoptera)

Distribution. Sri Lanka and India. Diagnosis. Male. Body elongate, length 2.5, width 0.8. Colour of head, pronotum, scutellum and elytra black, with blue-green metallic gloss. Head with coarse punctures. Pronotum longer than wide, with 7 deep depressions on disc; 3 large suboval depressions of them situated in the middle, 2 large suboval ones along each lateral side. Elytral inter­striae flat, striai punctures large and black, wider than interstriae, apical hole absent. Male genitalia (Fig. 12): páraméra longer than basal piece, median lobe with very long flagellum. Flagellum about 4 times longer than basal piece plus páraméra. Rishwanius gen. n. (Figs 13-15) Type species. Hydrochus soesilae MAKHAN, 1994. Description. Body elongate-oval. Mandible with 2 apical teeth, apical side with only 3 setae (Fig. 13). Maxillary palps 3-segmented, longer than antennae (Fig. 14). Antennae longer than the maxillary palps, 7-segmented, with 3-segmented club (Fig. 15). Head with coarse punctures. Pro­notum longer than wide, with 7 deep depressions on disc; 3 large suboval depressions of them situ­ated in the middle, 2 large suboval ones along each lateral side. Elytra with brown striai punctures. Legs simple, tarsi 5-scgmenled. Metasternum and prosternum with large suboval depressions. From dorsal side there is difference between males and females. Apex of elytra rounded in males, narrowed in females. Male genitalia: flagellum absent in median lobe. Etymology. This genus is named after my son RISHWAN MAKHAN. Fig. 12.
