Abstract - Thirty-five new Hydrochus species (Coleoptera: Hydrophilidae) are described from the Old and the New World: Hydrochus harryi sp. n., H. deepaki sp. n., H. samuelsoni sp. n., H. hiekei sp. n., H. bisoenpersadi sp. n., H. andrei sp. n., H. binaraiae sp. n., H. deprinsi sp. n., H. rypkemai sp. n., H. tineae sp. n. from Africa, H. satishi sp. n. and H. anandi sp. n. from Laos, H. harrydeepaki sp. n. from the Philippines, H. gitaraiae sp. n., H. chitraae sp. n., H. chitaniei sp. n., H. iinamkhani sp. n., H. rodjani sp. n. from New Guinea, H. nadesui sp. n., H. kunarajahi sp. n., H. rambarani sp. n., H. radjiei sp. n., H. polaki sp. n. from Australia, H. aschnakiranae sp. n. from Solomon Islands, H. roepnaraini sp. n. from New Caledonia, H. radhakishunae sp. n., H. teunisseni sp. n., H. elsjeae sp. n., H. soesilaae sp. n., H. iduae sp. n. from South America, H. elineae sp. n., H. vanvondeli sp. n., H. bernardi sp. n. from Mexico and H. hanoewanti sp. n. from Florida. With 35 figures. INTRODUCTION The Hydrochus material was sent to me for identification from the Koninklijk Museum voor Midden-Africa, Tervuren, Belgium and Koninklijk Belgisch Instituut voor Natuurwetenschap­pen, russels, Belgium, Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, Germany and Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii, and further 35 new species were found in this material. The Hydrochus species are new for Laos, the Philippines, New Guinea, Solomon Islands and New Caledonia. The holoty­pes of Hydrochus harryi, H. deepaki, H. harrydeepaki, H. kiranae, H. radhakishunae, H. teunisseni, H. soesilaae, H. elineae, H. vanvondeli, H. bernardi, H. hanoewanti are deposited in the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, Germany, H. samuelsoni, H. hiekei, H. bisoenpersadi, H. andrei, H. binaraiae, H. deprinsi, H. rypkemai, H. tineae in the Koninklijk Museum voor Midden-Afrika, Tervuren, Belgium, H. rambarani, H. radjiei, H. polaki in the Koninklijk Museum voor Natuurlijk History Brussels, Belgium, H. satishi, H. anandi, H. gitaraiae, H. chitraae, H. chitaniei, H. imamkhani, H. rodjani, H. nadesui, H. kunarajahi, H. aschnakiranae, H. roepnaraini, H. iduae in the Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii. Paratypes are in the Coleoptera Collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Hydrochus harryi sp. n. (Fig. 1) Holotype: male. Namibia, E. Caprivi 30 km SE. Katima Mulilo, 6.III.1992, M. UHLIG (only the holotype) (Mus. Berlin). Description (holotype male): Body elongate, length 3.3 mm, width 1.2 mm. Dorsal side shining. Colour of head, pronotum, scutellum and elytra green and with a blue-green metallic gloss. Head with coarse punctures. Pronotum longer than wide, lateral side smooth. Disc with five shallow depressions. Anterior margin of pronotum with three depressions, one in the centre, two behind this. Posterior margin with two depressions. Elytral length 2.1 mm, elytra widest on posterior third, lateral side mooth, interstriae wider than striai punctures, tubercle absent, interstriae flat. Apical holes absent. Elytral apices rounded. Male genitalia (Fig. 1): Basal piece short, median lobe sligtly longer than the páraméra (right páraméra broken).
