Kamijo, K.: Eulophidae (Hymenoptera) from Korea, with description of two new species

Eulophidae (Hymenoptera) from Korea, with Description of Two New Species* by K. KAMIJO, Bibai Abstract — Fifty-four species of Eulophidae excluding Tetrastichinae are recognized from Korea. Two new species, Chrysocharis pektusana sp. n. and Chrysonotomya yamagishii sp. n., are described. Fourty species are new to Korea; some of these are also recorded as new to Japan. With 2 figures. The present paper deals with 54 species, of which nine are unnamed, belonging to Eulophidae excluding Tetrastichinae. The material studied is based largely on collections made by the Hungarian Natural History Museum expeditions in the Korean Democratic People's Republic in 1970, 1971 and 1975; also on collections by MR. K. YAMAGISHI, Fukuoka, Japan and by MR. J. C. PAIK, Suweon, Korea. As far as I am aware, only four species of Eulophidae have hitherto been recorded from Korea. In this paper 42 species, including two new species, are newly added to the Korean fauna. On this occasion 12 species are also recorded from Japan for the first time. Although most of the unnamed species appear to be new to science, I do not wish to describe them, since only a few specimens are available. The specimens from the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest, were collected by DR. S. MAHUNKA and DR. H. STEINMANN in 1970, by DR. J. PAPP and DR. S. HORVATOVICH in 1971, and by DR. J. PAPP and DR. A. VOJNITS in 1975; these collectors are not mentioned in the text. — New records of distribution are followed by an asterisk (*). I would like to thank DR. J. PAPP and DR. G. SZELÉNYI, Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest, for their kindness in giving me the opportunity to study Korean Eulophidae and in making the material available. I am much indebted to DR. Z. BOUCEK, Commonwealth Institute of Entomology, London, for the gift of European specimens for comparison and for his valuable advice and suggestions. Thanks are also due to MR. K. YAMAGISHI, Kyushu University, Fukuoka, and PROF. T. OKADOME, Meijo University, Nagoya, for the loan of Yamagishi's collection from Korea preserved at the Entomological Laboratory, Meijo University; to MR. J. C. PAIK, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Suweon, Korea, for offering valuable specimens with host data.
