Menimus castaneus (CARTER, 1919), comb. n. Microcilibe castaneum CARTER (1919): Proc. Linn. Soc. New South Wales, 44: 147. Microcilibe nitida CARTER, in litt. Die Originalbeschreibung lautet: "Nitid castaneous above and below, legs pale yellow. Head coarsely, not closely punctate, epistoma rounded in front, antennae rather short, eyes small and round. Prothorax subtruncate at apex, truncate at base, the former slightly produced forward in the middle, sides subarcuately converging from base to apex (front half more strongly narrowing than nasal half), anterior angles obtuse, posterior rectangular, lateral border narrowly horizontal, an separated from disc by a row of setiferous punctures, disc with fine punctures irregularly and diffusely placed. Scutellum arcuate-triangular, punctate. Elytra of same width as and closely fitting prothorax, shoulders rectangular, sides parallel to half-way, with a row of lateral setae; rather widely rounded behind; seriate-punctate without a sign of striation, the punctures in series, rather widely distant; intervals each with a single row of even more, widely placed punctures; these more distant on outside intervals. Underside with large, diffuse punctures. Tibiae straight, slender, little widened at, and with a row of stout bristles near apex. Posterior tarsi with claw-joint approximately as long as the rest combined. Dimensions: 3x1 1 / 2 mm. Hab. — Mont Wilson (Blue Mountains, N. S. W.). I took seven specimens in a rotten Eucalyptus log during March of the present year (1919), and cannot find an existing genus for their reception. The 3-jointed club of antennae, slight convexity of form, non-denticulate tibiae, and non-strite elytra form a combination requiring a new generic status. Types in Coll. Carter." S. W., F. E. Wilson Collection" (2 Ex., Mus. Melbourne), Mt. Wilson, I. 1931, C. OKE (1 Ex., Mus. Melbourne); id., III. 1919, H. J. CARTER (2 Ex. als Microcilibe nitida "Type", Coli. South Austr., 38: 226 (partim). — CARTER (1921): Proc. Roy. Soc. New South Wales, 46: 312. Die Originalbeschreibung lautet: "Shortly-ovate; upper surface — in some examples niüd-black, in others head and prothorax yellowish-red; underside — legs and antennae red, abdomen sometimes suffused with black. Head concave, strongly punctate, epistoma rounded in front, antennae not reaching base at prothorax, the four apical-joints clavate, eyes round and prominent. Prothorax convex, arcuateemarginate at apex, anterior angles slightly advanced and acute, sides moderately and evenly rounded, posterior angles subrectangular, base truncate, lateral border raised and channelled within, disc without medial line, rather strongly and evelyn punctate. Scutellum small and rounded. Elytra ovate, of same width as prothorax at base, rather widely rounded behind, striate-punctate, the striate very shallow, the punctures in striae round and even, and not very close; a few scattered punctures in the scutellary region. Underside closely punctate, fore and mid-tibiae minutely serrated, the tibiae of male rather widely dilated at apex. Dimensions — 2-2.5X 1 (vix) mm. Hab. — Queensland: Mount Tambourine. Many specimens obtained by Mr. Lea from the rotten corse of logs. All the male specimens examined have the upper-surface concolourous, while other specimens, probably female, have the head and thorax red. The underside is generally reddish, often suffused with black as in the allied species of Acihosus. Comaped with P. Brevis, Carter, this species is much smaller and more convex (especially as to the thorax), the surface is more varnished, the elytral striae less marked, with the seriate punctures more widely separated. Types, I. 2210, in the South Australian Museum."
