ANNALES HISTORICO-NATURALES MUSEI NATION ALIS HUNGARICI Tomus 55. PARS ZOOLOGICA 1963. The Zoological Results of Gy. Topái 9 s Collectings in South Argentina Siphonaptera By F. G. A. M. SMIT, Tring During January — October, 1961, Gy. TOPÁL oftheHungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest, collected 209 specimens of fleas at El Bolsón, 41° 59' S. 71° 35' \Y. (90 km south of San Carlos de Bariloche) and one (Pules, sp.) at Norquinco, 41° 51' S. 70° 55' W. (about 50 km east of El Bolsón) — both localities are in the southwest corner of the Bio Negro Territory, Argentina. Ten of the seventeen species represented in the material had already been recorded from the neighbourhood of San Carlos de Bariloche (SMIT, 1955); the remaining seven species include one (Ectinorus levipes ) which was only known from the male holotvpe (the female is described below), another (Listronius fortis) known only from the female holotvpe (the male is described in this paper), while yet another represents Ceratophyllus, a predominantly Holarctic genus of bird-fleas, and one species of Ctenoparia is new to science. I am deeply indebted to Gy. TOPÁL for having collected such valuable and most interesting material and to his colleague I. SZABÓ , for enabling me to study the fleas and for generously presenting a number of specimens, including a holotvpe, to the British Museum, collection of fleas at Tring; the remainder of the material is in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest.
