Summary Dr. Gyula Kovács (1899—1987). one of the most important personalities of the Hungarian veterinary education, among his more than 100 publications also edited a historical work with the following title: ,,Biographies of the late lecturers of the Budapest University of Veterinary Medicine." The author of the present article, while analising and completing data given in this book, reviews briefly the activity of the people, who worked at the university in the last two centuries.
