10. The letter of Dr. József Antall, deputy director of the Semmelweis Medical Historical Museum and Library to Doz. Dr. med. univ. Marlene Jantsch Budapest, 18th July 1970. Dear Colleague, Allow me to ask you as editor of the Communicationes de História Artis medicináé, to write us a publication on Semmelweis's death and illness on the basis of the Semmelweis documents which are known to you. Our Institute and our editorial board considers it as a duty to keep the Semmelweis research awake and to publish all documents in connection with his life and death. Dr. Darvas wrote an article in the Nőorvosok Lapja (Journal of the Gynaecologists) 1967. pp. 385-394. and István Benedek expressed his views in his monography published in 1967 in connection with the questions you informed Dr. Darvas in your letter. We ask you herewith to publish the article you intended to write in our paper and ask you to edit the documents you know and which exist either in original or in copy. Dr. Darvas handed over his correspondence referring on this question to the university which was then carried on by the rector. Our editorial board would be pleased to receive a summerizing study from you before publishing the results of the earlier research work and the whole correspondence between Vienna and Budapest in English, German and Hungarian language. I do hope that in accordance with the progressing mutual medical historical relations between Vienna and Budapest, you will honour our journal with a paper of yours which regularly publishes contributions from excellent experts from abroad in their native language. I am sorry to rush you but I should like to ask you to answer as soon as possible on account of the editorial work. Allow me at the same time to send you two of our jubilee volumes.
