MARTON KEMÉNY Models of farming: network - community norms. The social relationships of agrarian inhabitants in a capitalizing village By focusing on the rural farming population of a village in the south part of Zala county, the author addresses the question of how the social and economic values of individuals and the community have been transformed by the radical changes in the employment stucture of the 20th century. The farmer, worker, business owner etc. have always been present in such societies but in a different proportions and with differing relationships. Both family and social economic networks contain relationships governed by various rules, such as reciprocity, market forces and redistribution, which means that those who are flexible and broad-based in their approach to community economics prosper best in such a situation.
