KRÓNIKA - Szekeres József: Az üzemtörténetírás helyzete, eredményei, Magyarországon (angolul)
ganized factory history writing meeting scientific demands, to support and coordinate, on a national level, research into factory history, to assist historical research work and analysis carried out at the enterprises, to prepare methodological works as well as manuscripts of factory history for publication and to manage their printing. The section endeavoured also to suppress dilettantism and illegal benefit as might be found in the field of factory history writing. In order to achieve its objectives the section applied to the enterprises to obtain the necessary funds. As a result of the circulars distributed in several hundred copies nearly a hundred enterprises, among them 50 large factories of considerable historical past and traditions, assumed sponsoring membership involving regular annual payment and nearly 50 enterprises applied to the section to have their history written and published. The „Pamphlets on Factory History" is the own series of publications of the section. Till the end of 1976 nine issues of this series have been published. These deal with methodological problems of factory history writing, with the history of some branches of industry and of some factories already closed. The pamphlets are generally issued in 2000 copies. The total number of the publications of the section is more than 50. This number may be considered as an excellent result taking into account the 10-year existence of the section. In 1972 the section of factory history gained an important role also on an international level by organizing the II. International Conference on Factory History. 27 historians representing 8 countries and 120 other participants attended the conference. The first Hungarian exhibition on factory history was organized during the conference. More than 60 enterprises were represented in the exhibition. Due to the activities of the Section of Factory History of the Hungarian Society of History, factory history clubs were organized all over the country. The section endeavours to support and to strengthen this new branch of history writing expanded during the past years by sending trained historians, organizing series of methodological lectures and issuing publications. Moreover, it strives to keep up public attention and interest in factory history writing. József Szekeres
