Ching-te-chen, coffee' pot, painted porcelain, modern the Minister of Public Education, Hoang minh Giam, for permission to choose the exchange material from among the ancient objects of Viet-Namese art still missing in the collection of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Eastern Asiatic Arts. The Minister obligingly complied with this request and thus the selection and the gathering of material took place in the storage rooms of the Historical Museum in Hanoi. The cause of the exchange was supported and fully promoted by Nguyen van Nghi, Director General of the Museum. The 48 objects of the exchange material comprise the following: 29 pieces of pottery, mainly specimens of the 11th and 12th centuries (Figs. 8—10); 7 porcelain plates with blue underglazed painting, 18th and 19th centuries ; 5 excavated bronze age weapons; 2 bronze vessels from the 15th and 16th centuries; a round wooden box with mother-of-pearl inlay for holding betel nuts, made around 1900; a sword in a richly ornamented scabbard, from the and of the 19th century ;
