HOPP FERENC MÚZEUM - MUSÉE FERENC HOPP - Horváth, Tibor: Report on the Activities of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Eastern Asiatic Art in the Years 1959—1961
an embroidered silk curtain from the end of the 19th century; embroideries of the Nung and Man ethnic groups (one each), from the turn of the 19th century. The 18 photographs sent together with the objects of art show the costumes of nationalities, presented at the exhibition of the Hanoi Historical Museum before August 1, 1961. Study trips: 1960. Tibor Horváth visited Turkey and Iraq on an official mission from March 11 to April 16. On March 12 he stayed in Istanbul visiting the Aya Sophia and the Chinese porcelain collection of the Topkapi Sarayi. From March 13 to 18 he was in Ankara, arranging the Hungarian exhibition of fine and industrial arts at the University; the exhibition was previously shown in Egypt, Syria and Lebanon. He visited the Hittite and the Ethnographical Museums and the site of Roman excavations. From March 19 to April 9 he stayed in Iraq, arranging (together with Sándor Ek) another Hungarian exhibition of graphic and applied art which opened at the Institute of Fine Arts on April 18. He also studied the Museums of Iraq, Arab, Islamic and Modern Arts in Baghdad, becoming acqainted with the art monuments of the city. He made excursions to Ctesiphon (March 24), Babylon and Borsippa (April 2), Mosul, Nimrud and Khorsabad (April 5 to 8). Returning to Istanbul, he arranged the Hungarian exhibition of fine and applied arts, which in the meantime had been sent from Ankara to the Technical University; this opened on April 15. In addition, he visited the Topkapi Sarayi, the Archaeological, Ancient Oriental, Turkish and Islamic Art Museums and several old monuments. He reported on his study trip to Iraq in the periodical „Valóság", No. 5, 1960, pp. 91—97.
