A Délvidék településeinek vallási adatai 1880–1941 (1999)
TARTALOM
The volume contains the data from three Hungárián - 1880, 1910 and 1941 - and two Yugoslav- 1921 and 1931 - population censuses. The correct and unbiased understanding and use of the data require at least a short summary of main conceptual, content and organizational characteristics of population censuses, as several problems related to different definitions, modified locality names, administrative changes and bordér rearrangements had to be surmounted in this work. These problems have already been mentioned in the volume on nationality (mother tongue) data ofthe historical Southern Hungary. The methodologic chapter of the present volume makes an overview of the following topics: — system ofstatistics on religion and denominations, — denominational distribution ofthe population of Yugoslavia (1921, 1931) — data sources, missing information and method of publication, — religious and denominational structure of ofthe population of historical Southern Hungary. The volume alsó contains a detailed textual analysis of the changes in the distribution by religion of the population of the historical Southern Hungary in the 1880 - 1931 period, inciuding territorial breakdown. To conclude, let me hope, this publication together with all others of the series will cope with existing data needs and constitute real and up-to-date approaches promoting scientific researches.
