1970 HUNGARIAN CENSUS OF POPULATION Information on the data collection and processing (1977)
I. THE COMPREHENSIVE REWIEV OF THE DATA COLLECTION AND PROCESSING - 11. The control of the reliability of the census
Individual occupation It is striking that the error of the distbirution according to branches of national economy is lower to a considerable extent than that of individual occupations. In the latter there is uncertainty mainly in connection with the distinction between physical and mental labour. (Table 8). The application of the numeration of the Uniform Classification System of Occupations (FEOR) will probably improve the results of the next census in 1980. From among the 11 rubrics of individual occupations the net errors exceed the standard error of response dispersion in four cases which shows that it is not merely random dispersion due to careless work but is a systematic error. We may reassure the users of the data because the percentage distribution of the data of the census and the post-enumeration control are so close that no misinterpretation may arise from this. The difference between the two percentages reaches 1,14 units only in the rubric "storing and manipulation and other physical labour", it is everywhere within 1 perceni; with the exception of the collection group (it fluctuates between -0, 05 and +0, 56). The gross error of the whole distribution is 21, 74 percent, opposed to this is the net error of 3, 27 percent, i. e. the majority of the errors is cancelled which is also shown by the above-mentioned coincidence of percentage distribution.
