Újvári Mária: 18. századi viaszfeszületek
The analyses of the fabric revealed that they were made from a mixture of beeswax and camauba wax. After dusting with a brush, the larger pieces could be further cleaned with a soft rubber. Then an inner stiffening frame was made to which the fragments were attached and where they could be fitted together with an adhesive. This adhesive was an 1:1 mixture of beeswax and camauba wax melted in a casserole. We kept the solution liquid and added it drop by drop between the reassembled pieces with a pin. The same mixture of wax was used for the complements. The complements were also constmcted drop by drop from the liquid wax. The wax mixture for the complement melted with the original but its different colour reveals which is the original object and which part was restored.
