A hordófenék restaurálás után RUMI, Attila The restoration of a tub bottom made of three staves, with the delineation of the Infant Jesus - Summary After the description of the wooden matter and the most frequent motives ornamenting the tubs, the author gives an account of the circumstances of collection of the carved tub bottom belonging to the King Stephen Museum in Székesfehérvár. The object is likely to be carved in a jesuit carving workshop, and was restored prior to this the present treatment. The previous interfrence, however, was restricted to the mending of the back sheet of two staves with wooden putty. The surface of the completing material has been cracked in course of time flaked off and chipped off at some places. In course of the recent restoration first the old supplements were detached, and the object was desinfectioned using Xylamon. Cleaning was performed using denatured alcohol. Strengthening of the wooden matter was performed using Titeron polyesther resin, that was injected into the interiors of the wood. For completing the missing parts, the same material was used, enriched with asbestos flake. Completing was performed using tools of timber industry. The missing third stave was supplied of oak-wood of the same quality and thickness as the original. The ornament could be fully reconstructed from the existing two staves; it was formed by chisels of suitable profile. The new stave was coloured by flame colouring lighter, than the original ones. Finally, the staves were fit together by tapping, and the pegs fixed by glue. 239
